Only the artist can speak intimately and intelligently about his creative intent. That's true of any artist, any creative work.

Only the artist knows the way, and he doesn't look to the spectator, a passenger who chose to take the trip, for guidance about the route.
The spectator is not a GPS, has no meaningful contribution about the artist's route, and couldn't possibly speak with wisdom about what is or is not "misguided" in the work of the artist.

Whenever it seems that the artist's route is diverging, and isn't the direction the passenger hoped to go, the passenger can and should leave the artist immediately, without attempting to negotiate a reroute, and Uber back to his own comfort zone.
